Taking a Break from Bell Making!

At the end of October we took a break from bell making and went to Mexico for a week. We timed this trip so we could be a part of the Dia de los Muertos celebrations. It was our first time to successfully utilize the services of Airbnb AND Uber. So we....

ate,

drank (a healthy margarita, ha),

took a class to learn about the Mayan calendar,

learned how to grow and make chocolate,

visited the Yellow City,

participated in the Paseo de Montejo

and saw lots of  Catrinas.

October Always Means Huffhines Art Trails

It is time to go to Arlington again for the Huffhines Art Trails show. It looks like the weather will be good so the turn out for a fun show should be great!

This is the show that has a Saturday co-event for your pets.
PAWTOBERFEST

Yes, there is a pet costume contest. Sadly, we will not be bringing our dog. She would be a cutie in a costume but, we can't fit her in the truck. We can barely fit us and all the bells/display/etc!

Hope to see all our favorite customers there and some new folks. If you need anything special, call us quickly. We will leave here on Thursday.

Midland in September

Well, the Museum of the Southwest Art show is a little early and I'm a little late in posting. But... we will be ready to leave on Thursday before the show. We will set up on Friday and be ready for customers. Hope to see you all there!

Rockport Here We Come!

Well we can't think summer unless we think of 4th of July in Rockport. We will actually be driving down to Rockport on the 4th but should be there in time for late night fireworks!
We will set up on Friday and be ready for the show on Saturday and Sunday. This is a special show as it is the 50th anniversary of this very fun show.

We have been getting ready, pulling in help from any family member willing to assist!

Sheila, the wonder shop dog on guard.

Oh, if I could just turn over all the sail work to an 8 year old!

She was pretty darn good and packaging and even posting the invoices.

This year, Philip made a new sail drying "tree". This is it loaded down with sails just taken from the drying boxes.

And finally, the bell man does sit down when taking orders from a customer on the internet.

So for those of you who live near the coast and those of you who want to come to Rockport for any or all of the July 4th holiday weekend (July 6th and &7th ), we will see you there !

CATCHING UP

I have been remiss in posting. We've had two art shows already  - Fayetteville's ART WALK and San Antonio's KING WILLIAM ART FAIR. Both were great shows. We had good sales and caught up with past customers and friends.
                                                           Fayetteville City Square
                                                                King William

Now ... lest you thing that all we do is work, let me put your mind at ease and let you know that we took a week off and flew to sunny Florida. We spent a week there celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary. We had a great time!

Some people get all dressed up and go out to eat and a fancy restaurant. We went to UKULELE BRANDS and ate on the porch and watched the alligators swim in the lake just beyond the parking lot.

So now we are back in the shop and have been getting ready all week for the Kerrville Festival of the Arts.

Come see us!

Winter Is Over?

Well it is almost the end of February. We are awaiting news from the spring art shows to know if we have been accepted. We do know that we will be in the King William show, but not sure about the others yet.

IN THE MEANTIME..... here's what the  bellmakers have been doing.

                                                          Judy has been making sails.

Sheila guards the boxes to be shipped out and waits for the UPS driver.

When he isn't welding bells, Philip is busy working on our boat. YES, we are still working on it. These are the covers to the access holes in the headboard of our bed which allow us to get to the anchor chain. He had to rework them, add a frame and then stain them. Some work is done on the boat and some thing are brought home to work on!

When I'm not working on sails, I have been getting the garden ready AND planting seeds in the greenhouse.
Here we have peas, morning glories and
garlic (in the HEB containers.)
This is one bed in the garden. I couldn't wait to plant a few things. There is kale, onion, garlic and as of today - some spinach in here. My fingers are crossed that there will be no more severe frosts.

So, that's it for now. I will post again when we know more about shows.
