Winter Is Over?

Well it is almost the end of February. We are awaiting news from the spring art shows to know if we have been accepted. We do know that we will be in the King William show, but not sure about the others yet.

IN THE MEANTIME..... here's what the  bellmakers have been doing.

                                                          Judy has been making sails.

Sheila guards the boxes to be shipped out and waits for the UPS driver.

When he isn't welding bells, Philip is busy working on our boat. YES, we are still working on it. These are the covers to the access holes in the headboard of our bed which allow us to get to the anchor chain. He had to rework them, add a frame and then stain them. Some work is done on the boat and some thing are brought home to work on!

When I'm not working on sails, I have been getting the garden ready AND planting seeds in the greenhouse.
Here we have peas, morning glories and
garlic (in the HEB containers.)
This is one bed in the garden. I couldn't wait to plant a few things. There is kale, onion, garlic and as of today - some spinach in here. My fingers are crossed that there will be no more severe frosts.

So, that's it for now. I will post again when we know more about shows.

THESE BELLS TRAVEL BETTER THAN WE DO!

We just received an email from a customer with photos of their bells hanging pretty darn far from their place of creation.  They were purchased in Houston and now hang in South Africa, near Kruger National Park!

                                                                                                                           Small world!!

CLASS REUNION TIME!!

So, just to keep you up with what we have been doing - we just went to Philip's 50th high school reunion last weekend. We both graduated from Victoria High School. Philip in 1968 and me in 1969. So, we went. And, we did have a good time. Here's a few pictures.

Our high school is now the Alternative High School. This is the monument out in front of the building.

This is the Stingaree which was and still is on the floor of the foyer of the old main building.
The threat from upper classmen was that if a freshman stepped on the Stingaree, he/she would have to scrub it with a toothbrush.

We were surely proud of being a "Stingaree"!

The couple behind us is my very best friend and her husband, both VHS grads as well.

Carol, Janice and Judy (we are 1969 grads).

It is going to be September 29th and 30th on the grounds of the  Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram, Texas, just west of Kerrville.

Come join us!!

Prior to that, we will be in Midland at Septemberfest on
September 8th and 9th.
Always a great show in a wonderfully friendly town.

Rockport Art Festival 2018

We finished the first day of the Rockport show and it was great. The weather cooperated - hot, but not miserable. Lots of people came by and visited and some bought bells. Just thought I'd post a few shots of the booth front, inside and behind.

Rockport is healing well. Lots of work still going on. It is sad to drive by a slab that once supported a home or a business. I'm sure some will be the basis for a new building and we feel bad when we can't remember exactly what was there before. The Art Center is moving and will be located more in the "business" area of town.

We ate at three of our favorite restaurants and they have recovered well.

Paradise Cove Marina, where we would have had our boat, if our original plans had come to be, is still being repaired. Their huge dry dock building is being rebuilt. We were very lucky not to have had her here.

Ok - all for now. Let's see what today brings.
